The process of suspending loads from the ceiling structure of a venue using cables, motors, chain hoists, and rigging hardware. Overhead rigging is used to hang signs, lighting trusses, banners, fabric structures, and other exhibit elements above the show floor or event stage. All overhead rigging must be performed by the venue’s certified house rigging crew and is subject to strict weight limits, attachment point specifications, and safety inspection requirements. Rigging plans for complex or heavy installations are typically required to be submitted to the venue in advance for review and approval.
