We put a lot of effort into developing amazing trade show concepts, and we are always eager to share them with our clients. Once, a customer exclaimed, “Wow, that’s totally us!” when we presented our ideas. This comment stayed with me as it not only represented customer satisfaction but also something more meaningful. Hearing those four words has now become one of our design goals for every project we undertake. Here’s why it is so important.
Immersing Ourselves In The Client’s World
With every customer engagement, we’re greedy for information. We want everything the client can give us in terms of perspectives, personas, preferences, and beyond. The more of a download we get at the start of our work together, the more we have to sift through and ingest.
Clients sometimes assume that when they give us their input, we will simply rehash it and present it back to them in a different form. However, this is not the case. We often take a completely different approach to their input. Nevertheless, we value and respect our clients’ requests and visions. We bring our own expertise and ideas to the table, eager to explore new directions and break boundaries together.
Wow, That’s Totally Us
If I hear one more person say, “We want our booth to look like the Apple store,” I might just move on to another line of work. I have nothing against the Apple store itself. In fact, people are wowed by its ingenuity, and for good reason. It’s impressive and delivers a completely unique experience…but that’s the catch.
Your brand is not Apple. Emulating the Apple store does not make you unique; it does the opposite. You will always fall short of the real Apple store because you’re merely copying someone else’s idea. I cannot stress this enough, but if you want to stand out, you need to be different. The reason I’m hitting this point so hard is because I want clients to realize that, if they want an imitation of another brand, they will never get to say: “Wow, that’s totally us.”
People can become accustomed to doing things in a certain way every once in a while. However, when you partner with us for a design project, we will challenge you to explore new possibilities. We will present you with unique ideas that may differ from what you have experienced before, and may initially seem unfamiliar to you. It is okay if you do not like the proposal. However, there is also a chance that you may discover something innovative that you have never considered, and it may resonate with you, making you exclaim, “Wow, that’s totally us.”
That is what we’re here for, and that’s where the real payoff is. Ready to start down the path toward discovering what the core of your brand really is? Call us today!
