The base material onto which a graphic is printed, mounted, or applied. Common substrates in exhibit and large-format graphic production include aluminum composite panel, PVC board, foam core, acrylic, corrugated plastic, fabric, and vinyl. Substrate selection affects the weight, durability, finish appearance, and mounting method of the finished graphic and must be appropriate for the intended application, whether that is a rigid wall panel, a backlit display, a floor graphic, or an outdoor banner.
