Skinning (Panel)

The process of applying a finished surface material, typically a graphic print, laminate, veneer, or paint, to the exterior face of a structural panel or exhibit component. Skinning defines the finished appearance of exhibit walls, counters, and structural elements and is a critical step in achieving the visual quality of the completed build. The term is also used to describe the application of fabric or printed covers to modular panel systems where the skin is a removable or replaceable graphic element.
