The Constraints
Designing a 10x10
Most convention centers cap 10×10 backwalls at 8 feet and prohibit hanging signs, the two tools larger booths use to be seen from across a hall. That leaves the backwall itself, plus whatever extends off the sidewalls, to carry the visibility work. On corner and peninsula layouts, sidewall headers can extend up to 4 feet beyond the footprint where a sidewall is exposed, giving an extra surface beyond the backwall to work with.
Storage is the other constraint, and it’s easy to underestimate going in. A 10×10 exhibitor often carries the same literature, giveaways, and product samples as an exhibitor with twice the floor space, without the room to spread it out. Bump-out storage closets and floating shelves built into the backwall let a 10×10 booth carry that inventory without eating into the walkable floor space in front of it.

A purchased 10×10 booth typically pays for itself after about three shows. One or two shows, rental is usually the better financial call. Three or more, even spread across a year or more, and purchasing is usually worth it.
Custom fabrication works best on a 60-day timeline from order to show-ready. Highway 85 has taken on tighter timelines when needed, but it costs more and isn’t the default recommendation.
